The App That Made My Mom Smile

I am a CS graduate,

Working in corporate as a software engineer—does this give me satisfaction? Aaahhh... maybe to an extent.

But do you know what brings
peak satisfaction?

Helping our parents with the knowledge we’ve gained. When it works well and they’re genuinely happy, it feels like all their hard work and love for us has finally shown results—or rather, never faded.

So, curious what was this “great” thing I did?

For me, it’s not anything grand. But for my parents, it is.

They’re into business and trading. They found it tough to constantly open the calculator and derive conclusions.
One day, my mom approached me saying,

“This whole process of deriving conclusions is costing me a lot of time. By the time I figure things out, the market has already shifted—and my results are inaccurate.”

I started listening to their requirements and thought—why not make an app?
They strictly wanted it for personal use, so I respected that. I began applying my UI/UX knowledge to sketch out the design.

Given the current era... of course, I vibe-coded.
I’m good at prompt engineering too, so that helped me draft the requirements—first on paper, then in the prompt box. I started debugging, adding features that would be genuinely useful for them.
I clicked Run... and wow—it worked!

I added features like:

  • A dynamic decision driver
  • A notes section to jot down thoughts
  • Save and export functionality to Excel

The app was ready.
I didn’t want to deploy it since they wanted it for themselves. So I explored ideas—and stumbled upon BAT scripts.
These files allow multiple tasks to execute with a single click.
I scripted it to start the backend, the frontend, and launch the app. Boom—peak happiness.

The fact that I built it, that it’s user-friendly, and gives a smooth experience—brought me more satisfaction than my day job ever did. And An year ago , i was again working on something (oh this one Check this out!) for my mom.. brings back the struggles and happiness i had while devoloping and how the job experience fine tuned me

Side projects like this are so fun.
And now? They use my application literally every day.

I'll add the design mockup here...

This drive i Have in me... drive me to make more apps that actually help satify the inner me and hope im doing the same in my life

Hope you enjoyed reading this ... while i enjoyed writing this... it was really sooo funn
See Ya! in another post
