A Random Pick That Had Me Screaming

I have been reading this book for a whileeee, and brooo, I never realised its worth until I started explaining this book to my friend.

The moment I started sharing the story with her — her expressions and the way she reacted to the story were on point — made me realise that this story is actually not that bad.

This story took me at least 60% of the book to realise what it was actually about, and that moment when it finally sparks and everything starts making sense — made sense in a crazyyy way for meeeee.

The type of writing was timelines.... parallel timelines.

Okay, so the book’s name is The Lost Bookshop, written by Evie Woods.

Yes, this book was a random pick...

But it was something like getting lost in the story.

The points that I picked up from this book, even though it’s fictional:

1. Women had it harsh in the 19th century. More like, not getting credit for their work, or worse, having the credit stolen from them and being treated like they were invisible.... And when you fight for change, they might throw you into an asylum. (It’s all in the story 😭)

2. Ghosts can actually be good for people. Like, if they want to be good, they will be. And this book didn’t give away even a single doubt till the end that the house owner was a ghost seen only by two people.

3. A brother could be the father — he can protect his dignity by abandoning the woman, but send his own daughter to an asylum. (That was one whole shock 😭)

4. It’s never too late to pursue the studies you love.

5. You can go to any extent to find something, and also go to any extent to hide something.

6. You can’t trust the world — sometimes they use the name of love to steal everything you have... On the other hand, love can get you what you want, like mutual understanding.

7. Maybe that harsh brother had an even harsher life, and that’s why he wanted the best for you and his family... But it was not portrayed properly, and so he ends up losing everything.

To me, this book was boring at first because I was not able to see that it was a timeline-based story. It took me a while to realise that....

But once I realised it, and once the dots were laid out and the moment they started connecting them...

I was screaming like crazy while reading how the story went.... I was shocked like WHAAAAAAAAATTTT 😭 WHAAAATTTT DAMNNNN!!!

Like, I felt like I would die if I didn’t share this story with someone. 😂 There were that many twists, and a plot like this shouldn’t be enjoyed by just one person — “sharing is caring” types 😂

And the way they brought the parallel timelines to an end, and the way everything finally made sense in the end, made me VERY satisfied with reading this book.

To me, this random pick felt soo good. 🥹
